What is backflow?
Put simply, Backflow is the reverse flow of downstream water contaminating your freshwater sources, testing involves the installation of a Backflow device into your fresh water pipe that prevents flow water moving back into the mains water system. Causes can vary between:
- Back Siphonage This occurs when the pressure in a tank/trough is below your system's pressure.
- Back Pressure On the flipside, when pressure is high in a system, you risk contaminated water in fire protection countermeasures & potentially seeping contaminates into the public water system.
Why does backflow prevention matter?
